The Echo Game Exhibition Catalog
Catalog for the FOFA Gallery’s annual undergraduate student exhibition. Each year, the FOFA Gallery comes in collaboration with the design department of Concordia University to create the exhibition’s catalogue. This was a proposal and won second place runner up. As one of the designers on the team, I covered the main layout design for text, typography and the cover design. The structure of the book was carefully thought out, so that it underlines the concept of an ‘echo’. Starting from the table of contents, we are using little thumbnails, arranged in a tight grid, to represent each artist, the thumbnails themselves being an ‘echo’ of their work. The navigation then keeps coming back, as the thumbnails are also used to display the captions of each artwork for every artist section. Furthermore, the position of each artist’s name in the table of contents is kept and reappears on the exact same spot when it is shown on the artist page. The shape of the thumbnails was later used in our cover design, making the concept complete, inside and out.
